The Pepeekeo Princess

Milo wood, steel, and epoxy.

About
I was commissioned to create this custom handcrafted piece of functional art on-location in Pepeekeo, Hawaii.

The sliding door was crafted from locally sourced Hawaiian Milo wood, several layers of hand-poured epoxy, and structural steel that came together to create a one-of-a-kind architectural statement rooted in its environment.

Pete and Carrie wanted a door that is also a functional piece of art; to be enjoyed wether it was open or closed. To make that happen I designed the center-piece of the design so that it would always be visible above the furniture. The plasma-cut bottom section functions for privacy as well as ventilation. The back side looks just as amazing as the front, and is unique and special in its own rights.
