I saw a photo of this barn in the dark, deep of winter and immediately I wanted to combine the strength of steel, rust, and hardwood to portray this image of Americana

.
The only paint used was for the flag, and a little snow on the branches. I began rusting the steel several weeks before I could begin laying out the image and cutting. I also used other patina and oxides to darken or blacken the metals.
